There’s a new spirit of possibility in the North American oil and gas industry. Spurred by new
production technology, companies are developing resources in more places, in more ways, than ever before.

Still, production technology isn’t the only area where the oilpatch is renewing itself. A new generation of professionals is on the rise, and taking aim at conventional thinking.

In a Canadian context, 12 of these emerging leaders were recently celebrated as Rising Stars for 2014 by Oilweek, the Canadian oil and gas industry’s publication of record. VistaVu President Jory Lamb was among this select group.

VistaVu has been on a strong run over the past few years. The company was recently ranked #358 on the 2014 PROFIT 500, published by Canadian Business, a healthy jump up from #385 in 2013.

Still, as Lamb notes, Rising Stars is about more than business growth. Industry up-and-comers were assessed on a balanced scorecard of professional achievements, community involvement and leadership. VistaVu’s support of Inn from the Cold in Calgary and Star of Hope Mission in Houston was noted by Rising Stars judges, as was Lamb’s leadership role with the Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

“I was tremendously pleased to be in such great company,” says Lamb. “These are people who are getting it done in business terms, and also contributing positively to their communities.”

The people recognized as Rising Stars for 2014 participate in the oil and gas industry in many different ways: corporate leadership, production, engineering, public affairs and more. Despite the differences, Lamb sees common ground, too. Everyone, in their way, is working to ensure the success and sustainability of the industry for years to come.

Says Lamb: “This is a technically complex, highly competitive industry and it’s good to see such dynamic people tackling the tough challenges. VistaVu is proud to be making a contribution, by using expertise and business software to help companies run great, and keep more of what they make.”
