On July 10th, a blazingly hot day, the 3rd Annual Angus Cattle Run was held in Calgary in support of the Calgary Food Bank. Almost 300 participants dressed up in their favourite western getup (it was also the Calgary Stampede, after all), and ran 5KM in support of their local community. There was even a Western Zombie or two – who knew there was such a thing?!?!

The Angus Cattle Run is run by VistaVu’s very own Angus Cowan, VP of Strategic Partnerships. Always an avid runner, the idea for the Cattle Run and its sister event, the Amble with Angus held annually in December, was sparked 13 years ago with a simple idea and good intentions over a cup of coffee. Since then, these events have raised over $300K for the Calgary Food Bank. $15K was raised in July alone. With the recent downturn in the Alberta economy, the Food Bank has seen more of a demand for its assistance, so this donation was undoubtedly graciously received.

Angus joined VistaVu in February of this year. Prior to VistaVu, Angus was a Partner and member of the senior leadership team at Ideaca for over 13 years. A married father of three boys (how does he find time to run?!), Angus has always been an enthusiastic cyclist and runner. He managed to figure out what many of us hope to do – he turned a leisure activity into one that actually makes a difference in this world. In 2013, Angus was inducted into the Calgary Marathon Society Hall of fame for his outstanding contribution to the running community for Amble with Angus.

Way to go, Angus! Your colleagues at VistaVu are proud to have such a great humanitarian in our midst.

Please enjoy these tweets and pictures of the event.
